ALPINE — The Brewster County elections administrator — Melissa Bergstrom, 43, of Alpine — was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing some $15,000 over time from the Alpine High School Band Boosters’ accounts, which she managed as treasurer, according to the 83rd District Attorney’s Office.
The Brewster County Jjail confirmed she was in custody Monday evening, but it would not divulge any information on charges or her bond and referred questions to the sheriff’s office, which did not immediately respond with the information. The DA’s office said she was charged with misappropriation of funds after a lengthy investigation of the booster’s finances.
