FORT DAVIS — The Jeff Davis County Commissioners Court will hold a special meeting Monday at 6 p.m. to hear public comment on a proposed road-use agreement with Barnard Construction, which is seeking permission for upgrades to Chispa Road to facilitate trucks and heavy equipment for border wall construction.
Commissioners tabled the item at a Tuesday meeting because they wanted to give members of the public who can’t attend morning meetings an opportunity to comment. Additionally, the current draft of the proposed agreement was not available until the end of the day on Friday, leaving many people in the dark as to what the agreement states. The agreement outlines the responsibilities of the contractor to provide specifics on intended road improvements as well as meeting other guidelines for road construction and work. The county has now posted the latest version on its website.
