
The Marfa Police Department had a busy mid May after two felony arrests.
On May 16 at 11:37 p.m., residents of a W. Paris Street home called police to report someone breaking into their home. According to a police report, the woman had entered the yard and was attempting to break in through a window. The residents showed officers video from a surveillance camera of the suspect. From that video, officers were able to locate the woman at a local bar.
Arrested for burglary of a habitation was Jaqueline Duron, 33, of San Antonio. As of Monday, Duron was still in Presidio County Jail on a bond of $20,000. Burglary charges range from a state jail felony to a first-degree felony.
The following evening, May 17, police responded at 1:11 a.m. to a woman allegedly assaulting people at Planet Marfa on S. Abbott Street. According to a police report, an officer arrived on scene and attempted to restrain the subject, who kicked and bit the officer. At the police station, the woman, Sierra Slaughter, 32, of Marfa, then assaulted another officer, the report stated.
Slaughter was arrested for resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor; aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony; and assault of a public servant, a third-degree felony.
As of Monday, Slaughter was still in Presidio County Jail with bonds totalling $125,000.
