BREWSTER COUNTY — On Monday morning, Terlingua Ranch resident Lawrence Foy was booked into the county jail after making an anonymous call to 911 dispatch threatening “Big Bend hospital and all law enforcement.” Deputies were quick to secure Big Bend Regional Medical Center and reported all clear. (The hospital is open and continuing to serve patients.)
After receiving the call, the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) obtained a warrant to arrest Foy at his home, where the suspect “briefly barricaded himself on the property,” per the agency’s Facebook page. No one was harmed in the incident.
Foy appears to have been making threats against the law enforcement for several weeks. On his personal social media pages, he repeatedly made threats against “government employees” and also made repeated references to the BCSO. “BREAK THE LOCKS OFF,” one post reads. “KILL ALL US GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WORLDWIDE AND ALSO ALL ADDITIONAL FRAUDULENT NATIONS.” His social media also had numerous posts attacking President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, including: “kamala harris is 1 of mny [sic] diseased traitors who die.”
Foy faces charges of terroristic threat, a third-degree felony, and “silent or abusive calls to 911 service,” a class B misdemeanor. At press time, no further information was available from the BCSO.
This is a developing story that the Sentinel will update as more details emerge.
